About the Association


THE MARINE INSURANCE ASSOCIATION OF BRITISH COLUMBIA (MIABC) IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE ASSOCIATION OF MARINE UNDERWRITERS OF BRITISH COLUMBIA.

The purpose of the Association is to interest its membership in matters related to the business of Marine Insurance and to promote and encourage high business standards and practices. The Association also takes an active role in providing opportunities for its membership to attend and participate in educational seminars that offer accreditation with the Insurance Council of B.C.

Our membership is comprised of Full Members consisting of licensed Insurance Companies, Underwriting Agencies, Brokers and Agents transacting marine insurance business in B.C.; Associate Members consisting of qualified Marine Underwriters not resident in B.C. and all other companies associated with the business of marine insurance; Honorary Members and Country Members.

The governing body of the Association is its Executive Committee, which consists of up to seven individuals who are elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Association. The Executive Committee meets on a monthly basis to discuss the work of the various sub-committees and any topical issues relevant to the business of marine insurance.

Our membership is welcome to contact any of our Executive Members for information on our committees or to provide comments or suggestions on marine related matters that may be of benefit to the Association.
